Rain and cold weather did not dampen the spirits of the dogs and their owners who gathered for Shields Plumbing and Hardware’s 2nd annual TJ Day event on Columbus Day weekend. There were plenty of warm noses and wagging tails who moved inside the store for family fun that featured doggie bags filled with toys and treats and kibble, dog eared baseball caps for kids and adults, face painting, raffles and more. The Shields clan and their dog, TJ, once again organized the benefit event for the Town of North Hempstead Animal Shelter’s volunteer group, The Shelter Connection. All proceeds will be used to improve the quality of life for our Town shelter dogs while they wait for a home as loving as TJ’s.
